Happy Birthday Greg!!

Greg is 31! And, this is the first year I didn't surprise him in any way. (Did I mention we're buying and remodeling a house?) Last year for his birthday I sent him on a scavengers hunt to find 7 different gifts. We were living in 2 different cities, often felt lonely, and I wanted him to feel extra loved on his birthday. :) Each gift was with a co-worker, had a card, and a Scrabble letter that spelled out the word "Beloved." I drove from Rochester that night for dinner and then surprised him at our good friend's apartment with all his colleagues, 30 helium balloons with pictures from his childhood attached to each one, and dessert. It was a wonderful surprise.

Here's what the apartment looked like (this is my first photo!!! Hopefully it turns out!)

This year... I was not on my game. But, we did go out to dinner and were surprised there! (I love surprises!) We went for sushi and stuffed our faces. I mean, we were full, like Thanksgiving full. This place had a "sale sushi" menu and we loaded up. We decided to skip birthday dessert and just get our check. The waiter went to grab our check and came back with this HUGE head! I thought it was a hat to hide Greg's dessert, but then he told Greg to put it on. Super creepy, also hilarious and a wonderful memory for his 31st.

Happy Birthday Greg! Now we'll always remember your 31st!

  1. You know, you can't do a big surprise EVERY year...then it won't be a surprise... ;) Happy Birthday, Greg!
